A great stop before Pemberton
Manjimup and Pemberton are both fantastic destinations in the Southern Forests, and they complement each other perfectly.
Spend some time exploring Manjimup before continuing south to Pemberton, where you can discover towering karri forests, walking trails, wineries, food producers and some of the region’s most spectacular natural attractions.
And right in the heart of Manjimup, Heritage Park makes it easy to add a little history and family fun to your trip.
Discover Manjimup’s history
Manjimup Heritage Park covers around 12 hectares and tells the story of the region’s timber heritage and the people who helped shape the community.
Take a wander through the Historic Hamlet, explore historic buildings and discover what life was like in the early days of Manjimup.
The State Timber Museum is another highlight, giving visitors an insight into the timber industry that has played such an important role in the Southern Forests.
The Power Up Electricity Museum – the history and development of electricity in Western Australia, with interactive displays and historic equipment. The kids with love this!
Steam Museum – explores how steam power transformed the timber industry and features the restored 1907 Robey Cross Compound Engine, which was used at the Tone River mill.
Get outside and explore
The Heritage Park isn’t just about history.
There are walking trails through the park’s bushland, giving visitors the chance to enjoy the natural surroundings and get a little exercise.
It’s a lovely place to slow down and take a stroll, particularly if you’ve been in the car travelling through the South West.
Families can also make the most of the open spaces, picnic areas and BBQ facilities.
The kids will love it!
If you’re travelling with children, make sure you allow plenty of time for the Adventure Playground.
With a huge 17- metre viewing platform and giant slide, flying fox, climbing equipment, swings, slides and a dedicated toddler area, there’s plenty to keep younger visitors entertained.
It’s the perfect opportunity for the kids to burn off some energy before everyone gets back in the car and continues towards Pemberton!
Make it a picnic stop
Pack a picnic or grab something to eat locally and enjoy some time in the park.
There are picnic areas, BBQs, gazebos and shaded areas, and also a cafe located within the park.

Celebrating 40 years in 2026
There’s an extra reason to visit in 2026, with Manjimup Heritage Park celebrating its 40th birthday.
The park opened on 11 October 1986, and the community will celebrate four decades of the park with a week of special events from 4 – 11 October 2026.
The celebrations include exhibitions, markets, family activities, guided walks and a special Picnic in the Park birthday celebration on Sunday 11 October.
It’s a fantastic time to visit and discover the stories behind one of Manjimup’s much-loved attractions.
