What sets the Understory Art & Nature Trail apart is its distinction as the first purpose-built walk trail in Australia to feature permanent artworks across various art forms. Internationally renowned creative talents have been commissioned to create sculptures, music, and writing that reflect the social, cultural, and environmental heritage of the Southern Forests region. The 1.2 km walk circuit guides you through the awe-inspiring Karri, Jarrah, and Marri forests of the Northcliffe Forest Park.
As you stroll along the trail, you will encounter both permanent and ephemeral sculptures, strategically placed at different intervals. Poetry, prose, storytelling, photography, and music also come alive through associated publications and captivating audio tours. The journey begins at the Northcliffe Information and Visitor Centre, where you can obtain a comprehensive Trail Guide and choose from five different audio tours. Entry fees provide access to this enchanting Sculpture Walk, available daily from 9am to 4pm, with the last entry at 3:00 pm.
