John Duncan Gallery

John Duncan is a self-taught painter and retired rural labourer who has called the South-West region of W.A. home since the late 1960s. Inspired by the beauty of the local sea and landscapes, John’s work reflects his deep connection to the region and the people, animals, and rural life that shape it.

Working primarily with acrylics, with occasional forays into watercolours, John’s art captures the essence of everyday life in the South-West. His subjects range from families and pets to farm animals and local landscapes. Though he describes himself as a “regional hack,” John’s work is rich in warmth and authenticity, resonating deeply with those who call this region home.

In addition to his in-store collection, John also offers portrait commissions for special occasions, capturing loved ones or pets in his distinctive, heartfelt style.

Where to Find John’s Work
John’s paintings are available for purchase in-store, and his home gallery on Dean Street is open most days for visitors. To explore his collection or inquire about a commission, stop by and experience the world through John’s eyes.
