Its a Mystery Road…
Excitement is building in Pemberton as our town becomes the backdrop for the second season of Mystery Road: Origin. While we’re keeping details under wraps, the presence of the cast and crew has infused our community with anticipation. We are eager to showcase Pemberton’s natural beauty and warm hospitality, hoping that everyone involved in the production leaves with a deep appreciation for our town. This collaboration not only highlights Pemberton’s charm but also strengthens our connection to Australia’s vibrant film industry. The filming took place in nearby Deanmill (now there is an opportunity for a rival footy story here 🙂 and other properties in the surrounding area and has given opportunities to locals and nearby towns in all aspects of film production.
Mystery Road: Origin delves into the early career of Detective Jay Swan, portrayed by AACTA Award-winning actor and proud Nyikina man, Mark Coles Smith. Set six months after the events of the first season, Jay and his partner Mary, played by AACTA Award-winning actress Tuuli Narkle, are striving to build a new life together in the declining town of Loch Iris, located on Mary’s mother’s Country. As Jay delves into a new case, he uncovers a town shrouded in secrets and a shadowy past that threatens to disrupt their lives.
The ensemble cast includes notable talents such as Robyn Malcolm, Clarence Ryan, Geoff Morrell, Nicholas Bell, Luke Carroll, Helen Morse, Aswan Reid, Steve Le Marquand, Pippa Grandison, Rarriwuy Hick, Shantae Barnes-Cowan, Tammy Lee Rock, Marley Sharp, Alex Malone, Greg Tait, and introduces Eloise Hart.
