Forest Lodge Resort’s story began in 1916, with the construction of its original building using local jarrah timber. This modest structure served as the foundation of what would become a beloved retreat for locals and visitors alike. The California Redwood, planted in 1935, remains a proud feature of the property, symbolising its enduring connection to the land.

In 1949, the Valom family expanded the property, adding more rooms to cater to the increasing demand for lodging. By 1964, the property adopted the name “Forest Lodge,” and under the stewardship of the McDonnell family and later the Bonini family, the resort grew further, with landscaped gardens and self-contained chalets enhancing its appeal.

In 1995, Wayne and Dianne Fisher, along with the Langford family, breathed new life into Forest Lodge Resort. They modernised the facilities, transforming the original guest rooms into ensuite accommodations, adding a commercial kitchen, and creating spaces for dining and relaxation. Their efforts laid the groundwork for the Forest Lodge Resort we see today.

The McInnes Family’s Contributions

In 2010, John and Kerrie McInnes took over the resort, implementing improvements such as timber decks to the Breakfast Room and Homestead, opening them up to the lake. They also completed extensive landscaping, including limestone walls and a new gazebo in the middle of the lake, which became a popular spot for wedding ceremonies.

Ingo and Cerstin: A New Chapter

Fast forward to the present, and Forest Lodge Resort is now under the passionate stewardship of Ingo Maas, his wife Cerstin and daughter Szalina, who are dedicated to creating a magical experience for every guest. They have undertaken significant upgrades, more limestone walls delineating areas for relaxation and parking, introducing accommodation options that range from 3-star to 5-star luxury. Their vision is simple yet profound: to offer a retreat where visitors can connect with nature, enjoy great food, and create lasting memories.

The gardens are meticulously maintained, offering guests a vibrant, seasonal display that changes throughout the year. The tranquil lake, home to marron, adds a touch of serenity, while the iconic tree that forms the resort’s logo stands as a reminder of its deep roots in the Southern Forests.
